Day 1
The beautifully crafted Mekhala is a restored rice barge that provide the setting for a spectacular journey between Bangkok and Ayutthaya, retracing the paths of former royal processions. Start cruising up the Chao Phraya River and shortly after embarkation the spectacular views of the Grand Palace and the Temple of Dawn can be seen. The magic of this voyage is its unhurried pace that captures the subtle colors and moods of life on the river. A couple of hours into the journey, the bustle of the city will be replaced by the tranquility of the countryside. Just after the sunset, the Mekhala docks at Wat Kai Tia, a Thai temple set in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelit dinner of mouth-watering Thai cuisine is served on the deck.
Day 2
Mekhala Cruise – Ayutthaya – Khao Yai
Early morning you can offer alms to monks at a nearby Buddhist temple. After breakfast, the cruise continues up-river Bang-Pa-In Summer Palace. Continue from there to Ayutthaya and visit the ruins of this former capital city of Thailand, a UNESCO’s designated World Heritage Site. See the three most famous and principal sights - Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Wat Phananchoeng with its huge Buddha image made of stucco and is the most revered by the inhabitants of Ayutthaya and Wat Yai Chaimongkhol which is known for its largest stupa in Ayutthaya. Lunch at a good local Thai restaurant, famous for its freshwater fish and river shrimps. Enroute to Khao Yai stop in Klang Dong, an interesting fruit market where varieties of exotic and tropical fruits as well as local food products are available. Arrive at Khao Yai and visit a winery for a wine tasting. Enjoy in this estate a sumptuous dinner with delicious home-style cooking, accompanied by local wines.
Day 3
Khao Yai
Visit the in the morning another winery and learn more about the New Latitude wines. After the visit of the winery a delicious lunch with a panoramic view of the vineyards. Return to the resort and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.
Day 4
Khao Yai – Bangkok
After a late breakfast drive back to Bangkok.
