Day 1
Bangkok - Aytthaya
Leave Bangkok from Hua Lampong Railway station to Ayutthaya.
visit the ruins of this former capital city of Thailand, a UNESCO's
designated World Heritage Site. See by bycicle the three most famous
and principal sights - Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Wat Phananchoeng with
its huge Buddha image made of stucco and is the most revered by
the inhabitants of Ayutthaya and Wat Yai Chaimongkhol which is
known for its largest stupa in Ayutthaya.
Day 2
Ayutthaya - Phitsanuloke - Sukhothai
Board the morning train to Phitsanuloke and enjoy the beautiful
rice fields and the small villages you pass by. After lunch visit
the most important sites of the city including Wat Wat Phra Si
Rattana Mahathat, also known as Wat Yai. This famous temple is
home to Phra Buddha Chinnarat, regarded as one of the most beautiful
Buddha images in Thailand. Afterwards visit the Thawee Folk Museum,
a private collection of antique items representing Thai rural life.
Across the street small bronze Buddha image casting foundry,
which is the only of its kind in the province. The foundry allows
visitors with the opportunity to witness skilled crafts men working
on the reproduction of Phra Buddha Chinnarat images. It is possible
to actually walk along the production line to see the entire
bronze-casting process. In addition, huge Buddha images are also
cast here. Late afternoon continue to Sukhothai.
Day 3
Sukhothai
See the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sukhothai by bicicle. In the
Historical Park you will see the ruins of Wat Mahathat and Wat
Phraphai Luang . After lunch continue by tuk tuk. Stops will be
made at Wat Chetupon and Wat Sapan Hin, an impressive Buddha statue
located on a hill-side. The last visit will be at Wat Sri Chum,
depicting an enormous seated stucco Buddha. From there you will
go back by a local ox-cart.
Day 4
Sukhothai - Lampang
Visit in the morning Si Satchanalai, another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The major sights include Wat Chang Lom, Chedi Chet Thaeo Temple and Nang
Phaya Temple. Continue after lunch at a local restaurant by train to Lampang.
Day 5
Lampang - Chiang Mai
Experience the charm of Lampang on horse-drawn carriages and see
the famous Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao. Board the train to Chiang Mai.
Visit in the afternoon the mountain temple of Doi Suthep with its
beautiful view over Chiang Mai.
Day 6
Chiang Mai - Bangkok
Early morning visit to an elephant camp where you see elephants at work.
You may take an elephant ride through the beautiful surroundings.
Lunch in a local restaurant. See in the afternoon the manufacturing
of lacquer ware, weaving of Thai silk, silverware and paper umbrellas.
In the evening board the night train bound for Bangkok.

Bangkok
Arrive Bangkok in the morning and continue with your extension programme.
