Day 1
Bangkok – Market Train – Mahachai – Rose Garden
Meet at Wong Wian Yai Railway Station to board a “Market Train” to Mahachai. Enjoy the ride as the train winds its way through back streets of Thonburi and passing through surprisingly unspoilt countryside of temples, schools, rice fields and marshlands. After an hour ride, you arrive at Mahachai Railway Station, located right in the middle of the bustling Mahachai Market. Visit this open-air market well-known for being Thailand’s largest fresh seafood market. Explore the market which not only selling seafood, but wicker ware, earthenware or colorful local sarongs. Later visit nearby remaining of Mahachai Fort and learn more about the past of this old riverside community. Just before noon, you take a short boat ride along Tha Chine River towards the river-mouth near to the sea. Stop at a local restaurant for a delicious seafood lunch. In the afternoon you visit the private homes of some of the finest artists. Here finely hand-painted “Benjarong” style ceramics are produced and the group is well supported by the village co-operative in order to preserve this rare ancient Thai handicraft. Continue a short drive to Nakhon Pathom and visit the oldest existing riverside community market. From here, you will relax on board a wooden traditional barge as it cruises down river to the Rose Garden Riverside Resort. Enjoy a Royal Thai Dinner at the riverside restaurant.
Day 2
Rose Garden – Floating Market – River Kwai – Rose Garden
After breakfast proceed to Damnoen Saduak to visit the lively floating market. Join the busy activities by taking a boat trip along the canal and see the vendors selling fruits and vegetable on small boats. Late morning continue onto Kanchanaburi and upon arrival visit the JEATH museum, a realistic depiction of prisoner of war living quarters, with photographic, pictorial and physic memorabilia dating from World War II. Also visit the Allied war cemetery and afterwards the world-famous bridge over the River Kwai. Enjoy in the afternoon a historic train ride on the “Death railway” through magnificent scenery passing over the wooden viaducts, built during World War II. Late afternoon proceed to visit the Bat Caves of Ratchaburi. Here as the sun sets, million of bats leave their caves simultaneously and it appears as if the mountain is spewing black smoke that quickly dissipates into the sunset as the bats disperse to look for food. Continue to Nakhon Pathom and visit Pra Pathom Chedi which considered as the world’s biggest and tallest pagoda. Enjoy your dinner at a good local restaurant in Nakhon Pathom and return to the hotel.
Day 3
Rose Garden’s Country Living Experience
Early morning just before breakfast, you join a good deed activity of “Tak Bad” or alms offering to Buddhist monks who row their tiny boats along the river past the Rose Garden. After breakfast you cross the Ta-Chine River by boat to an organic farm. On arrival meet a village headman for briefing, then guided tour of the farm to observe the livelihood of water buffalos and their keeper, see coconut picking demonstration which the gardeners climb up a coconut tree and bring some down for a refreshing drink and taste fresh tropical fruits in season from the garden. Visit also the organic vegetable and herbal farm and possible bringing some hand-picked ingredients back to the resort for the cooking class at noon. Enjoy country-style tea break at the shack by the lotus pond where fresh herbal teas and grilled bananas with coconut milk syrup are served. Learn more about Thai cuisine and its cooking tips and enjoy your own cooked lunch after the Cooking Class. In the afternoon, relax at the resort’s spa.
Day 4
Rose Garden – Ayutthaya – Bangkok
Depart after breakfast for Ayutthaya. On arrival visit important and impressive monuments of Ayutthaya, a World Heritage Site and former capital of Thailand, including Wihan Phra Mongkhol Bophit, Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the grandeur Wat Chai Wattanaram. Lunch at a good local restaurant and transfer to Bangkok.
