Day 1
Bangkok – Luang Prabang
After Arrival in Prabang visit Phou Si Hill in the town’s centre. Walk up the hill along the stone steps that will lead you to the temple Wat Phou Si with its breath-taking view from the hill top. Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom is situated between two rivers, the Mekong and Namkhan. UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage site since 1995. The heritage living city has numerous treasures of beautiful temples, historical monuments, and interesting ethnic minority groups. Later you will have a chance to stroll along Luang Prabang’s main avenue, to explore and visit interesting colonial buildings, cafes and shops.
Day 2
Luang Prabang
After breakfast, visit of Luang Prabang’s most treasured temple, Wat Xieng Thong which is considered as a masterpiece of Lan Xang architecture of the 16th century. Later enjoy an excursion on the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves - take a leisurely boat trip up river to Pak Ou. The scenery along the riverbanks is spectacular with forest-covered high limestone mountains and cliffs. A stop will be made on the way at Ban Xang Hai, where traditional rice wine distillation can be seen. The boat docks at Pak Ou caves, where a visit to this highly venerated cave temples will be made. These river accessible caves house thousands of wooden Buddha images and can be dated back to the 16th century.Picnic lunch by the river – after lunch, take a boat trip back to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival continue by road to Ban Phanom to visit the tomb of the French explorer Henri Mouhot, best known as the person who discovered Angkor Wat. Later visit the nearby weaving village, where wonderful silk and cotton textile is made.
Day 3
Luang Prabang – Bangkok
Breakfast and proceed to visit the Luang Prabang Royal Palace and its National Museum. The palace was constructed between 1904 and 1909 during the reign of King Sisavangvong. It houses the Royal Throne and many other religious treasures including the golden Buddha image of Pha Bang, which is considered as the most sacred image in the Kingdom. Later continue onto an impressive Buddha image and the golden façade of Wat Mai, then on to a unique melon-shape stupa at Wat Pha That Mak Mo or Wat Visun. After lunch in a local restaurant transfer to Luang Prabang Airport for flight to onward destinations.
