Day 1
Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Phitsanulok
Leave Bangkok for Ayutthaya and visit the most important and impressive historical monuments, including Wihan Phra Mongkhol Bophit, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Na Phra Mane and Wat Chai Wattanaram, all of which are listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. Continue on to Phitsanulok with lunch en route in Chainat. Late afternoon arrive at Phitsanulok, visit Wat Mahathat and its famous Buddha image - Phra Phuttha Chinnaraj.
Day 2
Phitsanulok – Chiang Rai
Today it's on to the spectacular ruins at Sukhothai where you'll see the former greatness of this city, preserved in architectural monuments including an 11 metre seated Buddha, palace buildings, temples and moats. This grand city was once Thailand's capital for over 200 years. The highlights of this visit include the ruins of Wat Mahathat, Wat Phraphai Luang and Wat Si Chum. Later continue on to Si Satchanalai Historical Park and visit two major ruins of Wat Chedi Chet Thaew and Wat Chang Lom. Lunch at a good local restaurant. After lunch continue the journey to the northernmost province Chaing Rai with visit and stop en-route at Wat Phra Dhat Suthon, and Phayao on the shore of the Kwan Phayao Lake.
Day 3
Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle – Tha Torn
After breakfast, proceed to Mae Chan and visit a local hill-tribe settlement. Later continue to Chiang Saen and the Golden Triangle. After lunch at a local restaurant in the Golden Triangle, enjoy a memorable boat ride on the mighty Mekong River along Thai, Laos and Myanmar borders with a chance to visit a small Laotian village on the riverbank. Late afternoon return to Chiang Rai and proceed along the scenic road to Tha Torn, a small charming town on the bank of the Mae Kok River.
Day 4
Tha Torn – Chiang Dao – Sankamphaeng – Chaing Mai
An amazing day as you head into the jungle to an elephant training camp! Say hello and watch them bathe before you have the chance to take an elephant trek into the jungle, followed by a leisurely raft cruise down the river. After lunch visit an exciting orchid farm. On the way to Chiang Mai there's time to stock up on souvenirs in Sankaem-paeng, famous for its beautiful silks, jewellery and woodwork (shopping character). Arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 5
Chiang Mai
Another brilliant day as you enjoy the City & Temples Tour of Chiang Mai, including Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang and the hilltop temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep with a panoramic birds-eye-view of Chiang Mai city and its valley. Lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy in the afternoon your leisure time in Chiang Mai.
Day 6
Chiang Mai Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Chiang Mai Airport.
